Advice for parents over immunisations

Parents of babies and infants are to be offered additional immunisations to protect their children from potentially life-threatening diseases.

You will probably have heard or seen the recent publicity for the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine to be offered in three doses at two, four and 13 months of age.

And there are changes on the way too, for the delivery of Meningitis C and Hib vaccines.

Acting Director of Public Health, Dr Parameshwaran Kishore (pictured), says the new regime will help prevent around 6,000 deaths UK-wide, and tackle a major cause of ill-health:
