Meat derogation report

Farmers have given a cautious thumbs-up to an interim report from a committee considering the future of their industry.

The 2010 committee is looking at ways to help agriculture after the Island’s meat derogation ends and farmers are forced to compete with imports.

Manx National Farmers Union president Howard Quayle says he’s glad the government is considering the issue well in advance.

But he says farmers aren’t hailing the report as an unqualified success:
