Price rise won't be backdated - MEA

The Manx Electricity Authority says its price rises won’t be backdated for any Island customer.

Mark Gilson of the MEA says people won’t have to pay the extra 12 1/2 per cent until they next have their meter read.

Earlier this week, North Douglas MHK John Houghton claimed the increase would be dated back to when consumers last had their meters checked.

Mr Gilson says the MEA’s billing system hasn’t changed and customers will only see the higher price in the next billing cycle (audio file attached):
