New use for marine laboratory?

The marine laboratory in Port Erin may at last have a future use.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is developing plans for the possible relocation of inland and sea fishery personnel to the site.

The building is due to be transferred to the ownership of the Department of Local Government and the Environment on October 1.

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says it makes sense to base the fisheries division there and he hopes in time the range of services at the site could be vastly expanded (audio file attached):
