Overtime ban may be averted

An overtime ban by firefighters at Ronaldsway Isle of Man airport is still scheduled to go ahead from 5pm today.

The move follows a long running dispute over pay and working practice which dates back almost two years.

While the ban wouldn't effect scheduled flights during day time and all emergency flights would still be covered it would mean passenger flights running late, beyond 9.45 in the evening, could not be accepted.

However what's described as a 'constructive' meeting of the Isle of Man Whitley Countil took place yesterday and Bernard Moffatt from the TGWU is hopeful it may now be possible to avoid any industrial action being taken (audio file attached):
