Community service for affray

A twenty year old man has been ordered to carry out 150 hours community service by the High Bailiff.

Joseph Michael Joyce, of Westmoreland Road, Douglas, appeared for sentence after admitting affray.

Joyce attacked two youths during a fracas on Harris Promenade at 4am on July 2nd

The defendant was seen by police to punch one of the men, and another was seen leaning against a car with his clothes covered in blood.

Joyce said he had been drinking heavily. His advocate said the defendant was concerned at what was happening to a family member at the time. He said what Joyce did was out of character.
