Questions over soon-to-be empty prison

Work continures apace on the Isle of Man's new prison at Jurby - and that's raised the question of what to do about the exisiting jail in Douglas when it becomes empty.

Expressions of interest are being invited in the Victoria Road building, which is more than 100 years old.

But unless a viable scheme to convert the period prison is found, it could be demolished and the site use for new housing.

Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin says a decision will be made first on whether any parts of the prison are worth preserving (audio file attached):
