Derby Square improvements criticised

by isleofman.com 10th August 2006
The ?100,000 scheme to improve Derby Square in Douglas is being criticised by residents.

Douglas Corporation began work there in January and aims to complete the work by September.

It has resurfaced paths, introduced new lighting and redone the railings.

But some residents are not happy with the changes and don't feel they've been consulted sufficiently: (audio clip 1)

Chair of Leisure Services, Raina Chatel, says it's too late to alter the plans now, but says if the lighting proves too bright, the bulbs can be changed: (audio clip 2)
