Hospital public meeting this evening

by isleofman.com 27th July 2006
The Manx public will this evening (Thursday) attempt to pile further pressure on health chiefs to restore 24-hour emergency cover at Ramsey Cottage Hospital.

Two public meetings will be held to voice concern over the lack of out-of-hours service for those living in the north of the Island.

The loss of overnight facilities caused a furore three years ago - when thousands took to the streets in mass protest rallies.

Chairman of the League of Friends of Ramsey Cottage Hospital, Leonard Singer MLC (pictured), says although Tynwald voted last year to re-instate the service, it's been words not actions so far (audio file attached):

The meetings at Waterloo Road Methodist Church this evening start at seven o’clock for Ramsey residents and at 8.15 for people living in all other northern areas.
