Weekend sport affected by weather

by isleofman.com 10th March 2006
After the snow of last Saturday and a wet week, tomorrow's sporting fixtures are already being affected.

All pitches at Nobles Park are waterlogged, so Football's Division One game between Douglas Royal and Gymns, and the Combination Two match featuring Corinthians and Foxdale are postponed.

In addition, The Bowl is unfit so the St. Mary's v St. George's Combination One fixture has been switched to Groves Road.

Tomorrow morning's St. George's Junior training at Glencrutchery Road has been cancelled due to the condition of the pitch. However, no decision about the afternoon F.A. Cup semi-final between St. George's and Laxey, at the same venue, has been made.

And it is not just the Island that is suffering. Douglas were due to travel to Liverpool Collegiate in Rugby's EuroManx South Lancashire & Cheshire Division Three. However, the pitch on Merseyside is unplayable.
