Local businesses in Ramsey have once again got into the festive spirit, donating hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers for this year's Santa Trail on Sunday 9th December. With over ?1000 of vouchers and two great 'money off' prizes from Cowley Groves and Chrystal's Estate Agents, it's well worth anyone taking part.
Chris Blatcher, Chairman of the Ramsey Chamber of Commerce said "The Santa Trail competition is open to everyone, with the prize fund split into Over and Under 16s. The event has gone from strength to strength over the last two years and this year we're looking forward to welcoming more entrants than ever. With a first prize of ?400 worth of vouchers plus a great offer from Cowley Groves, competition will be higher than ever!"
A section of Parliament Street will be closed to traffic, making space for the ever popular Ballakilley Hog Roast and Farmers Market stalls. Santa's Grotto will be open in the Old Post Office with professional photographer Andrew Barton on hand, whilst snow machines and musical entertainment will add to the festive atmosphere in the street.
Pop along to St Paul's Square for the Charity Christmas Market and St Paul's Hall for the Antique and Collectors Fair, whilst at the opposite end of the street lively local folk group Shenanigans will be playing two sessions in the Town Hall from 1.30pm and from 3.30pm.
Many of Ramsey's shops and businesses will be open for the afternoon so for those who can't usually get to Ramsey during the week, it's a good opportunity to spend some time browsing or shopping for Christmas. One of the few remaining places on the Island with a wide range of independent retailers, Ramsey can tempt even the most jaded of shoppers with products from organic beauty products to toys, fair trade gifts and quality jewellery.
Entry forms for the Santa Trail can be picked up in the Town Hall from 12noon on Sunday 9th December. The deadline for entries is 4.30pm, with the Prize Draw taking place at 4.45pm.
