Police investigations will continue this morning after the body of a man was found in the River Douglas last night.
It followed a near three–hour search by police and the coastguard rescue team.
The body of the 52-year-old local man was recovered in the river opposite Leigh Terrace.
A coastguard rescue team using flashlights had carried out an extensive search to find the deceased.
Police say the matter is not being treated as suspicious and formal identification has yet to be conducted.
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed.
Bridge Road was closed during rush hour yesterday teatime and police are thanking the public for their understanding and patience.
