Body of local man recovered from river

The body of a 52 year-old local man has been found in the River Douglas this evening (Tuesday).

It follows a near three–hour search by police and the coastguard rescue team.

The man’s body was recovered in the river opposite Leigh Terrace.

Police say the matter is not being treated as suspicious and formal identification has yet to be conducted.

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed.
