by isleofman.com 5th December 2012

Police are appealing for motorists to take particular care near to any pools of standing water. The traffic can spread the water onto freezing roads which quickly forms black ice.

Sergeant Allan Thompson of The Roads Policing Unit states, “With this cold snap, we are experiencing icy conditions on the roads and I simply ask drivers to slow down, but more importantly to report any areas which are affected with black ice. Please contact Police Headquarters on 631212 and we’ll co-ordinate the best response to keep your roads safe.”
