Strike ballot result will be next week, says Unite chief

by isleofman.com 6th December 2012

The result of the bus drivers' ballot on strike action will be known by this time next week.

It's the latest move in an ongoing dispute over increased driving time, the decision to cease paid lunch breaks and the reduction of contractual hours from 42 to 37.

The driver's union Unite blames the government-owned Bus Vannin for the dispute reaching this stage.

Unite leader on the Island is Eric Holmes.

He says the ballot will be counted at noon on the December 12, but if the vote was in favour of industrial action the timing of any strike would be up to the drivers themselves:
