A landmark moment for the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 10th December 2012

The Chief Minister says the government's decision to sign-up to a tax information sharing scheme with the UK is hugely important for the Island's reputation.

Allan Bell announced the pledge on Friday after the UK signalled it wanted to introduce its own version of the FATCA rules recently imposed by America.

The scheme effectively means the Island allowing transparency to the authorities in the tax affairs of UK nationals.

Mr Bell said that, as a responsible jurisdiction, the Island had to 'stay with the pack' as hostility to tax evasion mounts.

So, will the move further improve the Island's reputation on the international stage?
