Wind farm campaign reaches Westminster

by isleofman.com 10th December 2012

Moves to win support at Westminster in the campaign to stop wind farms being built in the path of ferry routes to the Isle of Man, have paid off.

Last week, Speaker of the Keys Steve Rodan met the MP for Morecambe David Morris, who's also secretary of the UK Manx parliamentary group.

Mr Morris has tabled an Early Day Motion opposing plans for a wind turbine development on the Steam Packet's route to Heysham.

Early Day Motions are not debated in the Commons but work as a rallying point for support on key issues.

Mr Rodan says winning political friends in the UK could be crucial:

Developer Centrica has promised to fully consider objections from the Manx government and other parties before putting the disputed development zone out to consultation.

Celtic Array recently held a three day public exhibition in the Island on its plans for a separate development off the north Wales coast.
