Tynwald farewell to 2012

by isleofman.com 10th December 2012

A wide range of concerns are being raised by Tynwald members in the last sitting of the court before the Christmas break.

There are 14 questions tabled for oral answer with a further 13 for written reply.

Topics under debate range from the cost of running the Attorney General's chambers to the level of infectivity in BSE pits which are close to domestic properties.

Speaker of the Keys Steve Rodan has two questions down concerning health issues.

He wants to know if all GP surgeries follow a policy of taking patient blood samples for analysis at Noble's and, if not, why not.

He will also ask what the annual cost is of the present policy of universal free eye examination.

In addition, Castletown MHK Richard Ronan has two questions, one regarding the number of police officers employed at Lower Douglas Police station and what the long-term plans are for the base.
The other is to Economic Development Minister John Shimmin about meetings between the Isle of Man and the UK Treasury and the implications of US FATCA and disclosure.

Liberal Vannin leader Peter Karran has a total of six questions, including why managerial posts are still being created, the Christmas Continental market and whether the Aircraft Registry put out to tender surveys for Isle of Man registered aircraft.

Tynwald is broadcast live in its entirety on Tuesday from 10.30am on AM 1368 and manxradio.com
