The Sayle Gallery’s Christmas offering, which opens on Friday 14 December, is actually two exhibitions in one: small – ‘Miniature’ - pieces from artists who usually work on a larger scale alongside works depicting the human figure – ‘Figurative’ – with some works fitting into both categories.
And – in the spirit of Christmas – any works bought from the exhibition are available to take home immediately.
All Sayle Gallery Artists have had the opportunity to take part, and the exhibition includes paintings, glassware, ceramics and other sculptures. Amongst those exhibiting are BBC Wildlife Artist prize winner Jeremy Paul, with three stunning images of birds - ‘African Jewels’, world renowned portrait artist Svetlana Cameron and the ever popular Colleen Corlett, whose pieces in this exhibition include small watercolours and original miniatures under solid glass paperweights.
Delicate ceramics from Manos Kalamenios, whose work has been featured on a number of internet design blogs recently, are also part of the exhibition, and sculptor David Metaxas has chosen the Sayle Gallery to show off his most recent work. Hazel Walsh – better known for her photography – has contributed a number of small figurines.
New works from James Duggan - whose first exhibition, with Svetlana Cameron, at the Sayle in 2011 featured huge portraits and who is currently preparing for a solo exhibition next year – include a number of mixed media works along similar themes to those that which made him a ‘best seller’ at the Sayle Gallery’s ‘Sculpture and Semi Abstract’ group exhibition in September 2012.
Other artists taking part in the exhibition include Bruno Cavellec, Rosi Robinson and Liana Rosi and the Gallery shop has a wide range of gifts, cards and other items with the Christmas present buying season in mind.
