Tynwald moves forward on major overhaul of Island's social policy

The first step has been taken towards a major overhaul of the Island’s social policy.

Tynwald has voted by 27 votes to four to support the principal of reforming policy and ensuring scarce public resources are directed at those in the greatest need of support.

Protecting the vulnerable; ensuring fairness and re-balancing rights and responsibilities are the three fundamental principles social care chiefs say need to be followed.

Minister Chris Robertshaw says it’s what happens next that matters.
