by isleofman.com 13th December 2012

Accountancy firm KPMG in the Isle of Man has totted-up the total funds raised through staff involvement in charitable activies during 2012.

More than ?7,600 and will be donated to Manx Cancer Help, which offers counselling and pyschological help for anyone in the Island whose life is affected by cancer.

Over the past 12 months KPMG colleagues have taken part in events ranging from the Bark at Ballanette sponsored dog walk to a wine tasting session at Sayle Gallery. The firm also fielded a team in the Parish Walk, joined fund raising galas and held a series of raffles and prize draws, to which it donated prizes including an iPad 3, laptops and artwork.

Manx Cancer Help says the donation is very welcome after their move to new premises this year and to help fund a project supporting young people affected by cancer.

KPMG's managing director David McGarry says he's enormously proud of his colleagues for dedicating their time towards a worthy local cause. Mr Garry said their efforts "have helped bring to the fore the importance of corporate social responsibility and its role not just within the charitable community but to the wider Island community as a whole".
