Southern Befrienders appoints a new Scheme Coordinator

by isleofman.com 13th December 2012

The Manx Charity, Southern Befrienders (Charity Number 0939) are pleased to announce the appointment of Lorna Trevethan as their new Scheme Coordinator.

Lorna joined the charity at the beginning of December and has a wealth of experience within the Third Sector in the Isle of Man, having previously been Manager at Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man and Development Manager at The Children’s Centre.  During her time at these charities Lorna helped to set up the Council of Voluntary Organisations in the Isle of Man.

“I’m really excited to have joined Southern Befrienders as they are providing an invaluable service to elderly people in the south of the island” said Lorna.  Southern Befrienders’ vision is for an inclusive community enriched by relationships across all generations.  Southern Befrienders provide home visits through a group of volunteer befrienders who visit elderly people who are registered with the Charity.

“We are very pleased that Lorna has started as Scheme Coordinator with the Southern Befrienders as her past experience should be of real benefit to the Charity” said Chairman Jonathan Stanfield.

If you would like more information about the Southern Befrienders, please contact Lorna on 833025, southernbefrienders@manx.net or find us on Facebook.
