A driver whose car was involved in a serious accident when it span off the road and overturned in Marown has escaped with minor injuries.

A fire service special rescue unit, water rescue team and a crew from Peel were called to St Patrick's Chair, Garth yesterday afternoon where a car had overturned down a steep embanckment coming to rest on its roof in a river.

The driver freed himself from the vehicle, scrambled to safety and raised the alarm.

Fire crews isolated the car's electrical system to prevent a fire in the vehicle.
