Ramsey achieve double over Vagabonds

After beating Vagabonds for the first time in a competitive match a month ago, Ramsey ensured lighting struck twice to complete a league double with a 24-15 victory at Mooragh Park.

Ross McCulloch swooped on a Ramsey error to put Vagas ahead early on but Ramsey hit back with tries from wings James Wren and Tom Kinrade, plus two Fintan Cummins penalties.

Jonny Beckley snatched a try from Vagas to leave his side trailing 17-10 at half-time.

An Ali Trace interception early in the second half increased the lead to 24-10 after Cummins added the conversion and, despite Vagas clawing a score back from Bryan Kennaugh, Ramsey held on to take the spoils.

Douglas beat bottom side Buxton 48-0 to keep their promotion challenge well on track.

Callum Carine, Nick Horsthuis and Glynn Hooson-Owen all crossed for first half tries and a penalty and conversion from Scott Goodall gave Douglas a 20-0 half-time lead.

Douglas pulled away in the second half when Bryn Snellgrove added two tries, Carine picked up his second and Craig McGee bagged one too, with skipper Goodall adding thee conversions and Snellgrove one.

Santa came early for Douglas too, with news that league leaders Sefton lost 19-3 away at Dukinfield and Douglas are now just six points off top spot.
