Balance needed in fracking debate

A balance must be struck as debate continues over fracking across the Irish Sea off the Lancashire coast.

That’s the belief of Blackpool-based journalist Andy Mitchell after the UK government gave the go-ahead for the controversial gas drilling technique to resume.

Work was initially stopped after two tremors near Blackpool.

Mr Mitchell says the risk of seismic activity is being weighed up against the potential for reduced energy prices:
