Teenager charged with GBH to appear in court

A 17-year-old youth from Douglas is due in court (17 December) charged in connection with an attack which has left a man with serious head injuries.

The teenager is charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

A 33-year-old Peel man was injured in the attack at Loch promenade's junction with Walpole Avenue in central Douglas at around 3am Saturday (15 December).

He was transferred to Walton Neurological Hospital in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Inspector Phil Shimmin has urged people not to speculate about the incident online, and says no weapon was used, contrary to some of the rumours.

He's thanking witnesses who have come forward so far, and is asking anyone else with information to do so.
