Bright idea: Shine with North Douglas Live at Home Scheme launched

by isleofman.com 19th December 2012

The North Douglas Live at Home Scheme (NDLAHS) has announced its Christmas campaign to help the Island’s older people receive the care and support they need, not only during the festive period but also throughout the year. The ‘Shine with North Douglas Live at Home Scheme’ was launched at The Cat With No Tail and will run until the end of the month.

By placing ?1 in the box at the bar you can buy a tag, which represents a light, to tie to the Christmas tree and your donation will help meet the diverse needs of those in later life who live in North Douglas.

The scheme’s chairman Anthony Hamilton said: ‘At this time of year it is all too easy for those of us leading busy lives and looking forward to being surrounded by family and friends at Christmas to forget there are many older people who are less able to enjoy the festive season. Our “Shine” scheme aims not only to offer support at this special time of the year but also, and importantly, to help older people enjoy their later years independently, safely and securely.’
