Archery Report

by isleofman.com 19th December 2012

Only a handful of archers turned out to shoot on Sunday morning. The round of the day was a Fita 18 shot as part of the club’s Scratch League.

Pete Mumford was his usual consistent self and pushed Dave Moore into second place. Kerry Boland, the only recurve archer to attempt the round, added 56 points to his personal best score.

Also shooting were Tony Hartley and Joy Gough. Tony took advantage of the low turn out to make another attempt at the Club’s Rhubarb Challenge. Every archer in the club is allowed to have two attempts at this challenge during the indoor season. Joy Gough shot a Bray 1, a round which consists of 30 arrows.

Results Fita 18 -  Men’s Compound 1: Pete Mumford 60 564 25, 2: Dave Moore 60 547 18. Men’s Recurve – K. Boland 58 395 5 pb. Rhubarb Challenge: Tony Hartley 60 409 4. Ladies Compound Bray 1: J. Gough 29 264 6.

The afternoon slot was given over to the Christmas Fun Shoot. This, supposedly, light-hearted event includes such delights as arrow balancing, connect four and the hotly contended balloon shoot. Never has so much effort been put into winning a bar of chocolate!

This Sunday’s shoot is back to normal with a Worcester round being held as part of the Club’s Handicap league. The usual start times apply.
