The 2012 Santa tram operation began in suitably civic style when Douglas Mayor Councillor David Ashford officially launched the service on Saturday December 15th.

Accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Sylvia Ashford, the Mayor met families eager to be among the passengers on the first tram that departed at 10am, but only after a special appearance from Santa who left his grotto to wave off them off.

Operated over two days the service proved a big success with children delighting in the opportunity to visit Santa in his grotto, receive a gift and enjoy complementary refreshments courtesy of the Shoprite Group.
