Is drink-drive campaign a deterrent?

Police say people still aren’t getting the message about drink-driving, with one arrest every two days since the start of the annual Christmas campaign.

Officers are out and about on the Island’s roads trying to crack down on those who get behind the wheel after they’ve been drinking.

Out of 345 people who’ve been stopped this year, seven so far have been charged with offences.

Sergeant Alan Thompson says the penalties are severe but don’t seem to be a deterrent:
