Isle of Man Archery Club Report

by isleofman.com 20th December 2012

The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to contest a Portsmouth round shot as part of the Handicap League.

Ian Harris in his first eligible handicap round made good use of his new bow to add 71 points to his personal best score. Barbara Harris added 6 points to her personal best, whilst junior Bradley Leyton equalled his. Joy Gough was back on form shooting only a few points beneath her best.

Three club members elected to shoot a Double Portsmouth, combining the totals from the morning and afternoon shoot. Recurve archer Rhys Moore put in scores of 476 and 496 to give a personal best total of 972. Compound archer Dave Moore registered scores of 565 and 568 to give a personal best total of 1133. This score was one point higher than the Club Compound Record  set by Pete Mumford in February of 2006 and congratulations would have been winging their way to Dave had Pete not been in fine form himself. Putting in scores of 571 and 577, Mumford shot a combined total of 1148, adding 16 points to his personal best and setting a new club record in the process.
