On Monday 17th December 2012, John Darren Connolly received an 8 year prison sentence for attempting to bring controlled drugs into the Isle of Man. He travelled from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the Isle of Man.
He had been arrested on Thursday 23rd February 2012 having disembarked from a flight from Liverpool. Subsequent enquiries confirmed that he was carrying 24.74 grams of Cocaine internally, which has an Isle of Man Street Value of ?1500.00, which was recovered.
Detective Sergeant Paul Holland of the Isle of Man Constabulary’s Pro Active Team said:
“This is a significant sentence for someone bringing drugs onto our Island, which underpins our aim to keep the Isle of Man a safe place to live. Not only do drug mules run the risk of being prosecuted for serious drug offences, there is also a significant risk to their own health. I hope this sentence will make people think twice about being involved in these activities”
