The ‘Best of British’ just got even better with the opening of the Embassy, the new function room at The British on North Quay in Douglas.
Following the restoration of the ground floor at The British, returning it to a classic yet modern city-style bar serving great food and drink, owners Heron and Brearley turned their attention to the first floor to create one of the finest function rooms in Douglas, the Embassy.
Distinguished by dramatic views of the marina and with space for around 80 seated, the Embassy is the perfect venue for private functions, family celebrations, weddings, product launches and live performances.
The Embassy is also the place for a great Sunday carvery lunch served from 12noon to 4pm. There’s no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the best of traditional British and Manx food served in sensational surroundings.
The Embassy is also serving up generous helpings of top-flight live comedy. Top stand-up comedians on the Comedy Club circuit will be performing there once a month through to May 2013. For each show doors open 7.30pm, the show starts at 8pm and the bar stays open to midnight.
Heron and Brearley’s retail director Steven Taylor said: ‘We always listen to our customers and what our business customers in particular had been saying is that there was a real need for a well equipped function room in the heart of Douglas for corporate events as much as for family celebrations. And this is our response – the Embassy – a fantastic facility that builds on the reputation not only of The British but also of our whole managed estate, where our standards are redefining the whole pub experience: great value quality food, craft and artisanal beers, interesting wines and engaging service.
‘With licensed premises spread not only across the Island but also in England and Wales we take careful note of what people are looking for in a pub: the corporates, the individual customers, everyone who visits our pubs. And what we’re hearing is that budgets may be being squeezed but there’s still an appetite to go out and have a great pub experience…and we’re responding by investing right across our managed estate, driving up quality and consistency.
‘With the Embassy we’ve filled yet another gap in the market and have quite literally gone up another level in our hospitality offering; a fantastic first-floor space that’s already becoming the go-to venue in town.’
