Postal Kiosk is a welcome boost for Castletown

by isleofman.com 21st December 2012
A roll out of additional Pay and Post kiosks in new locations throughout the Island includes a petrol station in Castletown.

A self-service postal kiosk is now housed in Station Garage and is being described as a welcome boost to the town. It will give residents the opportunity to transact their postal business at a time and day to suit them, with early morning and late night opening hours seven days a week.

Richard Ronan MHK, Vice Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office and member for Castletown said: “The postal kiosk is a welcome addition to the town. Not only is it supporting Station Garage, which has been here for many years serving the local community and passing traffic, but it improves access to postal services.“

He added: “I’m very keen to promote localism and to try and increase footfall into local retail and as Vice Chairman of the post Office this concept of Pay and Post kiosks actively engages with the community and the local retailers. We are casting our net to offer postal services outside the normal office hours of 9.00am to 5.30pm and I would encourage residents of Castletown and other communities who have a postal kiosk in their area, to use them to buy stamps, post letters and packets, pay utility bills and Government rates.”

A post box is being placed outside the shop on the forecourt and mail posted will be collected daily by the local postman.

Equally pleased with the new service offering in the town is Julie Owen, proprietor of the Station Garage. She said: “The Pay and Post kiosk is great for us. Anything we can do to provide an extra service to our customers and the community we are only too happy to be involved with. We are delighted to have partnered with Isle of Man Post Office on this initiative. The machine is really simple and quick to use and we thank the Post Office for giving us the opportunity to house it in Station Garage.”
