Festive candle causes Christmas day fire

by isleofman.com 27th December 2012

A family in Union Mills had a lucky escape on Christmas Day when a candle display set fire to their dining room.

The incident happened just after 5.30pm at a house in Ashlar Drive. Damage was limited to the dining table.

The family had managed to put out the blaze when the fire brigade arrived – two men were given oxygen after suffering smoke inhalation but didn’t need hospital treatment.

Fire officers say candles should never be left unattended.
