Public support for changes to social care system

by isleofman.com 27th December 2012

Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw says it was extraordinary how much support he received for the proposed changes to social care on the Island.

The issue of how we care for the less fortunate in society - including those unable to work due to ill health, the elderly and the unemployed - is currently subject to a root and branch review, with the current system being regarded as "unfit for purpose"

Earlier this year the department sought the views of the public in a wide ranging consultation.

Mr Robertshaw says the department received a massive response and a large amount of support for proposed changes in many areas
