New Chief Constable to be sworn in

by isleofman.com 2nd January 2013
This Friday, the 4th January 2013, sees the historic swearing in of the Islands latest, and first Manx, Chief Constable.  Gary Roberts, who is also the first officer promoted to the rank that has served in every other rank in the Isle of Man Constabulary, will be sworn in formally to the role at 4pm at the Courts of Justice.

Mr Roberts said:

"I feel proud and privileged to be allowed to lead the Isle of Man Constabulary. The next five years will be challenging. We have further budgetary constraints  to contend with, and changes to the conditions of service of police officers will make for a difficult time. We are fortunate that the men and women of the Constabulary fully understand what is expected of them and they are committed to serving the people of the Isle of Man. Ensuring that we maintain the trust and support of the community will be my main priority."
