Revised tuition fee plan criticised

The government's revised plan for university fees is still completely inefficient.

That's according Jack Gibney, a student from St Ninian's High School, who says the new proposals will still affect those who are worst off in society.

Today the government announced that students would be solely liable for paying back the loan to cover their fees.

Initial plans saw parents held responsible for repayments.

The scheme still needs Tynwald approval – the court will consider the proposals this month.

The loan is to be paid back once they earn at least ?21,000 a year, an amount Jack says may not be enough:
