Drink-drive message always under review

The rise in the number of people charged with drink driving over the festive period shows there was better targeting by the police.

That's the view of the government's road safety manager, Gordon Edwards.

Nineteen arrests were made, six more than last year, despite police stopping around 200 fewer vehicles.

Eleven people were charged, of which seven have already been convicted.

Mr Edwards says the road safety team will continue to look at different ways of getting the message across:
