Underdogs looking for upsets

by isleofman.com 4th January 2013

It's the preliminary round of the Paddy Power F.A. Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Holders St. George's begin their defence at home to fellow Premier League side Corinthians.

This is the third of the four competitions that make up the Grand Slam - Geordies already have the Railway Cup back in the trophy cabinet at Glencrutchery Road and lead the Premier League.

St. Mary's and St. John's meet in a replay of the Railway Cup semi-final which St. John's won 3-2. This time St. Mary's have home advantage in the only tie which has a 2pm kick-off - all the others start at 1.15pm to allow for the possibility of extra-time and penalties.

Division Two pacesetters Michael face top flight strugglers Ramsey in an interesting looking contest.

Elsewhere, Ayre make the longest trip in Manx Football when they travel to Port Erin to tackle Rushen.

Bottom of Division Two Malew have the toughest task of all with a visit to Premier League heavyweights Laxey.
