Change to rules on civil partner adoption

by isleofman.com 7th January 2013

Tynwald will consider changes to adoption rules when it sits next week.

The Adoption Amendment Rules will take into account civil partnerships and changes to laws on adoption which date back to 1984.

Also up for discussion will be new rules which ask registrars to report civil partnerships if they suspect they’re marriages of convenience for immigration purposes.

The new regulations would see the registrar write to the Lieutenant Governor and report the partnership to the government’s Immigration Office.
