Warning over greenway spikes

Police are warning anybody who leaves dangerous devices on the Island’s green lanes could be facing very stiff penalties.

It comes after a spate of incidents where spiked pieces of wood were left on a greenway running from the Switchback Road at Lhergydoo and the Staarvey Road.

The latest was found on Saturday and officers say although those responsible might be targeting vehicles, if a walker stepped on one they could be seriously injured.

PC Ian Scott of the Western Neighbourhood Policing Team says it’s a serious matter that’s being actively investigated:
