Bumper festive hamper appeal for Island's elderly

A record number of festive hampers were distributed to elderly people in the Isle of Man this Christmas thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses.

Age Isle of Man says it filled 204 hampers with seasonal food and gifts, 60 more than in previous years.

The charity's chief officer George Quayle says the hampers were gratefully received by people who couldn't afford the extras and luxuries so many take for granted.

He's paid tribute to all who contributed to this year's appeal and says it shows the true spirit of Christmas is well and truly alive:
