Coastguards have carried out a search in Douglas Bay this evening after a report a man was in difficulty in the water.
The Douglas lifeboat was called out to cast searchlights over the water while police officers and coastguards carried out a torchlight search of the shoreline opposite the Palace Hotel.
No one was found and it's believed the call from a member of the public was a well-intentioned false alarm.
