Douglas RNLI lifeboat launched to assist in search on Douglas foreshore

Douglas RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew members were called out at 8.28pm yesterday evening (13th January) following advice from the Town Police that a report had been received of a person possibly entering the water from Douglas Promenade.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran to assist Douglas Coast Guards carry out a search of Douglas foreshore utilising both searchlights and parachute flares. A thorough search of the area by the lifeboat and Coast Guard team found nothing. Just as the call to stand down was received Coastguard Officers located a person fitting the description of the person reported earlier as entering the water on Douglas Promenade.
 
Douglas lifeboat returned to station, was washed down, refuelled and reported ready again for service just before 10.00pm.
