Every year on 27 January, the world marks Holocaust Memorial Day. Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides and apply them to the present day to create a safer, better future. On HMD we share the memory of the millions who have been murdered in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur in order to challenge hatred and persecution in the world today.
The theme this year is Building Bridges, and we will be remembering those individuals who, often at grave risk to their own personal safety, helped save others from the tyranny of persecution.
The Isle of Man Holocaust Memorial Service 2013 will take place at St German’s Cathedral in Peel on Sunday January 27 2013 at 3pm. People of all faiths and no faith are welcome to attend and the organisers request that everyone be in their seats by 2.45 pm.
