Projects scrapped as Peel rates frozen

Peel’s rates have been frozen this year – but the commissioners say a programme of improvements in the town has had to be scrapped.

Plans were in place to charge residents 7p in the pound extra this year, but the government’s announcement it would phase out waste subsidies means the rates stays at 242p.

Meanwhile plans for a new five-a-side pitch, basketball court, improved CCTV and disabled access to the Ward Library have had to be shelved.
