Island students continue tuition fee protests

Students are continuing to demonstrate outside Tynwald this afternoon as they await the outcome of a vital vote on education.

Education Minister Tim Crookall wants to make students contribute at least ?2,500 towards their tuition fees for higher education through a loan system that’ll be debated by the court this evening.

But the proposals have sparked a campaign by the Island’s teenagers, who say the idea will damage education and the economy.

Protest organiser Chris Killey of St Ninian’s High School says they’re hopeful they can defeat the government and overturn the plans:
