Members of the Mothers' Union on the Island have launched their '10p on a Teabag' appeal. On Saturday 23 February between 10am and 4pm members of the Mothers' Union will be taking over part of the Sea Terminal building in Douglas.
The aim of the appeal is to raise ?14,000 in total in support of Mothers' Union literacy and numeracy education projects in the African country of Malawi.
The effort has so far raised approxiamately ?6,000 and the aim is to have the grand total collected by Easter this year!
On Saturday 23 February everyone is invited to bring a 10p coin and a teabag, these will be laid out to make as big a chain as possibly can be made across the floor of the Sea Terminal building.
There will be other support activities going on at the same time including decorating boxes, a numeracy washing line, a graffiti wall for messages to Malawi, large jigsaws, quizzes about Malawi and intriguingly a taste of Malawi.
If you'd like to know more, want to take part then just turn up on the day remembering your teabag and your 10p coin.
