Port Erin lifeboat station is holding its annual SOS day on Friday 25th January.

St Catherine’s Hall in Church Road, Port Erin will be hosting this year’s event where there will be teas and coffees available. The popular ‘Soup Or Spud’ will again be served where baked potatoes or a variety of different homemade soups will be on offer. Also, there will be a tombola stall, grand raffle and a selection of homemade delicious cakes.

A display board showing of the history of Port Erin lifeboat station and all of its lifeboats to date will be on site.

The event will be open between 9am and 3pm with an entry fee of just ?1. The Soup Or Spuds will be available between 11 and 2.30.

Crewmembers will be doing a collection outside Shoprite and in the village throughout the day.

Also on Sunday 27th, at the Lifeboat station, the crew and volunteers will be doing a charity car wash ‘Soap Our Saloons’ between 10am and 1pm. Last year this was extremely popular and so it is advised that anyone with a car in need of a good wash should turn up in good time.

The RNLI’s SOS day is the largest fundraising event of the year and the amount required to maintain the service annually will be over ?145 million.

Please, on Friday 25th, show your support for our volunteer lifeboat crews. Whether you raise money at school, at work or anywhere else, your donations will enable us to carry on our vital life saving work.
